More news about: Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cavaliers looked like a team on a mission tonight, as the No. 21 Cabrini women's basketball team advanced to the 2015 Colonial States Athletic Conference championship game with tonight's 90-76 victory over the Keystone College Giants.

The win improves the Blue and White to 23-3, while extending its win streak to 17 games.

Only the second seeded Immaculata Mighty Macs stand in Cabrini's way of a third consecutive CSAC crown.  The teams will meet in Saturday's title game at 6 p.m. at Nerney Field House.  The game will mark a rematch of the 2014 CSAC championship game, one the Cavaliers won 88-59.

The Blue and White had balanced scoring tonight, as six players recorded at least seven points, with four posting double figures.

Senior Amber Keys led the way with her 13th double-double of the season.  The senior hit 11-14 from the field and 6-10 from the free throw line en route to a 28 points, 12 rebound effort in just 25 minutes of action.

Junior Kristina Startare added 18 points and seven boards, while sophomore Tayler Holmes tallied 12 points, two more than junior Dana Peterson.

The Cavaliers took full advantage of its inside domination, outrebounding Keystone 60-35, with 24 boards coming on the offensive end of the floor.  While Keys led the club with 12 rebounds, fellow senior Megan Decker grabbed 10 caroms and junior Mo O'Connell nine.

Cabrini also scored 48 points in the paint to the Giants' 32 and turned its 24 offensive rebounds into 23 points.

The Cavaliers used a pair of early runs to take control of the game.  Cabrini recorded spurts of 8-0 and 9-0 in the opening seven minutes of action to build a 23-10 advantage.  Minutes later, another 9-0 run extended the lead to 32-15 with nine minutes left in the opening half.

Keystone cut its deficit back to 38-28 but a Peterson jumper sent the teams into the halftime break with a 46-32 lead.

The Blue and White wasted little time extending its lead after the break, as a 9-0 run pushed the cushion to 57-35 less than three minutes into the second half.  Despite shooting over 47% from the floor in the second half, including 6-11 from three point range, the Giants could never mount a serious comeback threat.

Junior Meghan Martin paired eight points with six rebounds and four assists, while Decker added seven points, five assists and two steals to her stat line.

Senior Jazmyn Robinson led Keystone (14-13) with 23 points, eight assists and four steals, while Ashley Evans added 20 points, including 6-9 from three point range.  Senior Alyssa Cuomo grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

Immaculata improved to 16-9 with tonight's convincing 74-46 victory over third seeded Gwynedd Mercy.  Sara Smith led the Mighty Macs with 28 points, including 10-11 from the free throw line, while Brittany Merkle paired 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Saturday will mark the third time the Cavaliers and Mighty Macs have met this season, with Cabrini winning both and each of the last six meetings.

Keys and Decker posted double-doubles in Cabrini's 71-40 victory over Immaculata on Jan. 22.  Keys added a career high 33 points and 13 rebounds, as the Blue and White escaped with a 65-64 road win on Feb. 14.
