Anchorwomen End Season in, 67-49, Loss to UMass Dartmouth

Providence, R.I.-Sophomore guard Alex Moore's (West Newbury, MA) had 24 points and five rebounds as seventh-seeded Rhode Island College fell at second-seeded UMass Dartmouth, 67-49, in the opening round of the 2015 Little East Conference Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Anchorwomen conclude their season with a 7-19 record.

The two teams traded baskets early in the contest with a three-pointer by Moore knotting the game at seven apiece with 16:34 remaining in the half. The Corsairs (19-7) responded, however, closing the half on a 31-16 run to take a commanding, 38-23, lead into the break.

A jump shot by RIC junior forward Devin Hill (Danielson, CT) cut the deficit to 18, 48-30, but commanding defense and strong shooting by the hosts propelled them to the 67-49 victory.

Moore led all scorers with 24 points, while Hill chipped in 15 points and three steals. RIC shot 28.6 percent (16-for-56) from the field, 25.0 percent (4-for-16) from three-point land and 76.5 (13-for-17) from the free throw line.

UMD senior guard Kelsey Garrity (Somerville, MA) led three Corsairs in double figures with 16 points, while also grabbing seven boards. UMD shot 46.3 percent (25-for-54) from the field, 20.0 percent (3-for-15) from downtown and an astounding 93.3 percent (14-for-15) from the charity stripe.
