Geneseo Defeats Buffalo State, 76-50

BUFFALO, NY—Geneseo (16-4/12-1) used a 13-0 run to open the second half to pull away from host Buffalo State (11-11/8-7) for its 10th-straight victory, 76-50, in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena.

 

Geneseo limited Buffalo State to a season-low 50 points.  Olivia Luciani (E. Syracuse/E. Syracuse-Minoa) was the lone Bengal scorer in double figures with 15 points.  Keyonte Edwards (Buffalo/O'Hara) chipped in nine points, while Brittnee Perry (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) finished with eight points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

 

Geneseo jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, but Buffalo State battled back and led briefly before trailing 34-30 at the intermission.  Then the Knights pulled away to open the second half, holding the Bengals scoreless for nearly five minutes, and never looked back.

 

Geneseo shot 53 percent from the field and was 8 of 16 from beyond the arc, compared to just 27-percent shooting by Buffalo State.  The Bengals did go 7 of 24 from long range, but were 9 of 23 at the free-throw line. 

 

Buffalo State will conclude its regular season home schedule with its Play 4 Kay game this Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Fredonia.
