Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team continued their hot play, extending their win streak to six games after beating CUNYAC rival Staten Island by a score of 69-52 on Friday evening at West Quad.  The six game win streak matches a season-high as the Bulldogs impressed many former players on "Alumni Night".  With the win, BC improves to 14-5, 11-1 CUNYAC, while the Dolphins fall to 11-9, 8-3.

After starting the game hot and opening a 10-2 lead, the Bulldogs were slowed up by the Dolphins fast-pace attack, and went into the locker room down by a point, 29-28.

Coming out after the half, Brooklyn took over the game, as freshman Christina Heyer provided the spark they needed, opening the half with a three, and then after a Megan Campbell bucket, she drilled another three, to put Brooklyn up by seven.  Nicole Francomano then converted on a three from the corner to conclude an 11-0 run to start the half.

A 4-0 run by the visitors cut the Brooklyn lead to 39-33, however the Bulldogs followed with a 17-1 run, capped by a Karen Mak layup, to take a commanding 22-point lead with 9:08 remaining.  Staten Island never threatened for the remainder as the Bulldogs earned their 11th conference win of the year.

"I thought that we played excellent ball in the second half," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "We kept making plays on the offensive end and tried our best to make it tough for them to get clean looks.  I'm proud of the way our team got better as the game went along."

Campbell had a monster game for Brooklyn, dropping 25 points and pulling down 16 boards.  Francomano dished out a game-high 10 assists, while Asia Foster chipped in with eight points and 14 boards.

Heyer, who was in foul trouble early, had a nice game of nine points and four assists, while Mak was huge off the bench for the second consecutive game with six points and five assists.

Nacirema Mann also had some big baskets for the Bulldogs, and finished with sevent points and six boards.

Victoria Crea led the Dolphins with 19 points.

Brooklyn will be on the road for the next three games, starting with York on Tuesday evening at 6 pm, in what is another CUNYAC showdown.
