LEXINGTON, Ky.—Late free throws helped the 15th ranked Transylvania University women's basketball team to an exciting 67-66 win over Rose-Hulman Saturday the Clive M. Beck Center.

Trailing 66-65, junior guard Katelyn Smith knocked down two free-throws with 6.6 seconds left to play to seal the one-point win for the Pioneers. On the prior possession, the Transylvania defense capitalized off a missed free throw, as Smith grabbed the defensive rebound and went the length of the floor before drawing the foul.

For the game, Transylvania out rebounded Rose-Hulman 27-22 but none as timely as the offensive rebound from senior Kayla Dobson following a miss from Jordin Fender. On the same possession, Fender knocked down a three-pointer to put the Pioneers up 65-64 with 59 seconds remaining—Transylvania's first lead of the second half.

Rose-Hulman answered on the next trip down the floor to regain the lead at 66-65 on a jumper from Abbie Marshall. Seconds later, Smith's free throws lifted the Pioneers.

After the first half ended tied at 31-31, it was the Engineers who broke out of the gate in the second half. The Engineers opened the second half on a 12-4 run in the first four minutes and opened a 43-35 lead with 16 minutes to go in the game.

In the first half, Coffman scored 11 straight Pioneer points to open the game, but Transylvania trailed 14-11 until a Chelsea Pharris jumper as the shot clock expired pulled the Pioneers to within 14-13 with 12:29 remaining in the half. After hitting 5-of-6 three-pointers in the half, the Lady Engineers opened up a 22-18 lead before two Coffman free throws allowed Transylvania to close within two at 22-20 with 6:52 left in the half. Less than one minute later, another Coffman bucket tied the score at 22-22. Shawn Kolani provided a spark off the bench with five points and a steal late in the first half, and the teams went to the locker room tied 31-31 at intermission.

For the game, the Pioneers were led by Coffman's 25 points. Smith added 19 points including the game-winning free throws, and Kolani hit double-figures with 11 points including three baskets from behind-the-arc. The Engineers, who hit 9-of-11 three-pointers were led by Kristen Belyea's 15 points.

With the win, the Pioneers swept the regular season series after a 53-51 win earlier this season, improving to 16-1 on the season and 10-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 28, against Earlham College at 7:30 p.m. at the Clive M. Beck Center.
