The Baruch College Bearcats jumped out to a 19-point first half lead and held on for an impressive 56-52 road victory over the Ospreys of Richard Stockton College on Monday night in Stockton, New Jersey.

The Bearcats (12-4, 8-0 CUNYAC) shot 40 percent in the first half (13-of-32) and used suffocating defense to limit the Ospreys to 21 percent shooting (8 of 38).

Despite the big early lead, the Ospreys battled back to get as close as 32-29 with 16 minutes left in the game. The Bearcats withstood the run and managed to build the lead back up to double-digits again of 12 points (48-36) on a driving layup by Baruch's newest 1,000 point scorer Francess Henry.

The Ospreys (12-4, 8-1 NJAC) scored nine of the next 10 points to the delight of their home crowd to get as close as four (49-45) with 4:23 remaining, but the Bearcats scored their next five points on free throws to lead 54-45 to record the victory against an opponent that just a week ago upset No.5 ranked Montclair State.

Sheridan Taylor had a monster game with a double-double of 12 points, 18 rebounds and four steals. Henry was in the middle of all the action with her first double-double of the season with 17 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.

Iyana Abrams posted 10 points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals to extend the team's winning streak to eight games.

The Ospreys finished shooting 32 percent (21 of 65), which included 1of 12 from 3-point range. Laura Alwan led their team with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Baruch will resume their schedule on Friday, January 23, with a 5:30 pm CUNYAC home contest against rival Hunter College.
