AMHERST, Mass. (Dec. 30, 2014) – The Drew University women's basketball team rebounded to finish the Amherst College Holiday Tournament with a 1-1 record after defeating SUNY Canton, 74-45, on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore guard Hannah Miller paced four Rangers in double figures with 19 points on nearly impeccable shooting marks of 7-of-9 from the floor, 3-of-4 from three-point range and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Senior guard Breana Wilson netted 10 points and added eight assists and four steals, while sophomores Ryan Jackson and Courtney Trzasko each tossed in 12 points for the Rangers.

Freshman forward Ally Raulf nearly joined her four teammates in double digits with nine points on a 4-of-6 mark from the floor, but did secure a new career best in rebounds with nine.

The Rangers (7-3) jumped on the Kangaroos (0-8) early with a 6-0 run to start the game. Miller scored the first four before Jackson hit a jumper for the quick advantage. Trzasko delivered Drew its first double-digit lead at 15-5 at the 11:36 mark by hitting her second of two 3-pointers.

The lead hovered around 10 points before the Rangers exploded on a 10-0 run, capped by an old fashioned three-point play by Wilson with 2:45 to play in the half as Drew led 31-11. The Rangers held the lead heading into halftime up 35-18.

A 14-2 run in the second half saw Drew take a 58-27 lead with 12 minutes left in the contest. The Rangers' biggest lead of the afternoon was still to come as freshman Haley Scheuer converted two free throws for the 74-36 advantage with 2:45 remaining. Free throw shooting was a team strength in the victory as Drew posted a .833 (15-of-18) mark from the charity stripe on Tuesday.

The Drew defense was also alert in the triumph, converting 26 Kangaroo turnovers into 31 points. Twelve of those turnovers came by way of Drew steals. The Rangers won the battle down low with a 42-41 rebounding advantage while outscoring Canton 36-24 in the paint.

The Rangers return to New Jersey to kick off 2015 with a Landmark Conference contest against Juniata College on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 2:00 p.m. in Baldwin Gymnasium.
