NIA TOMPKINS NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM AT 16TH ANNUAL DR. BETTY SHABAZZ TOURNAMENT

Brooklyn, NY- The Women's Basketball team fell to the College of Old Westbury Panthers 94-35 in the Consolation Game, which was part of the 16th Annual Dr. Betty Shabaz Memorial Tournament. The Panthers improved to 2-3 overall while the Cougars drop to 0-6 overall. 

The Cougars were led by Junior Guard Nia Tompkins with a 15pts (6-12 FG-FGA and 3-6 3pt. FG-FGA). The Queens, NY native grabbed five rebounds, and added a steal. Nia was named to the All-Tournament Team. The Panthers were led from All-Tournament Team recipient Crystal Barnes with 17pts. Three other Panthers scored in double-digits including the following: Jasmine Robinson (17pts), Clarissa Gallagher (14pts), and Bridgid McNeil (10pts).

In the Championship Game, the College of New Rochelle Blue Angels defeated the Yeshiva University Maccabees 84-61. Jah-Leah Ellis (College of New Rochelle) was named Tournament MVP, along with Hannah Cambel (CNR) All Tournament Team recipient and Stephanie Greenberg (Yeshiva) All Tourney recipient. This is the Blue Angels 2nd time, winning the Tournament.

The Cougars will be back in action on Monday December 1, 2014, when they play the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners at Medgar Evers College. Game time will be 7:00 pm.
