PURCHASE, N.Y.- Senior Alyson Caiazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) of the Manhattanville women's basketball team tallied 19 points, a career-high 27 rebounds and 10 assists to go with five blocks on Wednesday afternoon, picking up the first triple-double of her career in a 75-65 win over Farmingdale State.

The 27 rebounds from Caiazzo was one rebound shy of the all-time record, dating back to a game in 1987 when Lori Thiemann grabbed 28 boards. In the win, classmate Bri Pabon (Newington, Conn./Newington) scored a team-high 22 points while junior Ashley Franklin (New Haven, Conn./Hill Regional Career) and freshman Joiada Darnell (St. Albans, N.Y./Humanities and the Arts) tallied 10 points each. Darnell finished with her first collegiate double-double, collecting a career-high 19 rebounds against the Rams.

For Farmingdale State, Andrea Desvignes was the difference-maker, scoring a game-high 31 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Nicole Lanteri added an additional 19 points for the Rams, which proved to be not enough against Caiazzo and the Valiants.

The Valiants jumped out early on the Rams, taking a 7-2 lead just after two minutes into the contest. Manhattanville was able to force turnovers and take advantage of second-chance opportunities early in the game until the Rams fought back. After a three-pointer from Franklin at the 13:46 mark, the Valiants controlled a 10-2 lead that would eventually turn into a 15-point lead. With Caiazzo's dominance inside the paint and Pabon's consistency from beyond the arc, Manhattanville took a 25-10 lead with under seven minutes to play in the first half.

Desvignes and Lanteri started to chip away at the 15-point deficit, but the Valiants held onto a 40-30 lead as both teams headed into halftime. Farmingdale State started to catch fire in the early moments of the second half, making things interesting in a game that the Valiants were dominating. The Valiants had 26 turnovers in the contest, leading to 22 points for the Rams. Farmingdale State went on a 17-8 run to start off the second half, pulling the Rams within one point with 13:28 remaining, 48-47.  The Rams would eventually take their first lead of the game after a layup from Lanteri with 12 minutes to play, 51-50.

As both teams started trading a lead back and forth, the Valiants eventually began to pull away. With a 57-56 lead, Manhattanville went on a 10-0 run, taking an 11-point lead with under four minutes to play. The Rams came within five points before being denied of any comeback as the Valiants finished the game with a 75-65 win.

Manhattanville will take some time off before traveling to Amherst for the Amherst Holiday Tournament. The Valiants will take on SUNY Canton on December 29, starting at 6 p.m. before taking on D3hoops.com #3 Amherst the following day. Live stats are available via GoValiants.com.
