GLENSIDE (PA) – Arcadia University went on a 24-8 run over the final 6:51 of the game as the host Knights upended Delaware Valley College, 91-79, in a non-conference match-up.

Arcadia improved to 6-3 on the season while the Aggies fell to 2-6. Delaware Valley will play three games next week, starting with a trip to Rosemont College on Monday, December 15.

The Aggies were down 67-62 with 8:17 remaining when back-to-back baskets by Brenna Coll, a layup by Brittany Wood and a 3-pointer by Kelsey Kilpatrick was all part of a 9-0 spurt that gave Delaware Valley its first lead of the second half at 71-67 with less than seven minutes to go.

The rest of the game was all Arcadia, starting with the first nine points, including seven from Addy Crenny. The lead went to eight before consecutive layup from Eireann Anastasi and Agatha Drozd made it an 83-79 contest with 59 seconds to go. However, a foul and a technical were called on the Aggies four ticks later and the Knights hit all four free throws for an eight-point lead. Arcadia added four more from the charity stripe for the 91-79 final.

The Knights got to the foul line all afternoon as their 43 attempts more than doubled Delaware Valley's trips to the line (21). In fact, Arcadia made 22 free throws in the second half and it finished 34-for-43 from the foul line, compared to 13-for-21 for the Aggies. Part of that was a big rebounding edge by the Knights as they had a 53-35 advantage, including 21 on the offensive end.

Arcadia led by as many as nine in the opening stanza, but a 10-1 Delaware Valley run tied the game at 27 with 7:21 to go. Anastasi and Coll combined for eight points in the spurt. The rest of the half was a back-and-forth affair with the Knights taking a 42-40 lead into the break. Arcadia then outscored Delaware Valley, 49-39, in the second stanza for the 12-point win.

Anastasi had 20 points, four assists and three steals. Coll notched 19 points, six rebounds and four assists before fouling out (one of three Aggies to foul out in the game). Drozd hit six of seven shots from both the field and the foul line for an 18-point effort. She also had six assists and three steals. Wood nearly had a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.

Five players reached double figures in scoring for the Knights, including two over the 20-point plateau. Maureen Fiocca connected on a game-high 24 points while Crenny had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Fox contributed 16 points while Valerie Dimuro and Dominique Hassinger added 15 and 12 points respectively.
