Brooklyn Downs Lightning, 67-44, Remain Undefeated In Conference Play

Brooklyn, NY---In a battle of teams who entered the contest 3-0 in CUNYAC play, the Brooklyn College Bulldogs defended their home court and remained undefeated in the league, knocking of Lehman, 67-44. BC improves to 5-3 overall and 4-0 in conference with the win while Lehman drops to 5-3, 3-1.

"I thought we had great intensity at the start and throughout tonight's win," said Head Coach Alex Lang. "Lehman is a good team who was hot coming in and so it was an important win for us, and it is nice to remain undefeated in conference play."

Brooklyn started the game strong, taking a 16-2 lead that was sparked by a consecutive Vanessa D'Ambrosi three pointers. The

Lightning would fight back to close the half on a 22-13 run, cutting BC's lead to 29-22.  Junior Karrin Walker had a big half for Lehman, scoring nine points and grabbing 10 boards.

Megan Campbell and D'Ambrosi led the way for the Bulldogs and Campbell led all scorers with 12 and D'Ambrosi added 10.

Baskets early in the second half from Campbell, Asia Foster and Gabrielle Alleyne gave the hosts an 11-point lead, 35-24 with 15:52 to go.  Lehman would respond to cut the deficit to nine on a Amely Del Rosario layup with 13:59 remaining, but from that point it would be all Brooklyn as the lead would get as high as 22 on multiple occasions before the final of 67-44.

Campbell led all scorers with 28 points and grabbed a team-high 12 boards.  D'Ambrosi added 14 points, six boards and five steals.

Point guard Nicole Francomano was all over the place for the Bulldogs, with 10 points, eight assists and seven boards in 32 minutes of action.

Lehman was led by Walker's 15 points and 13 boards.

The Bulldogs will head to New Jersey on Monday where they will take on a very strong non-conference opponent in William Paterson University at 7 pm.
