STEVENS POINT (December 10, 2014) - UW-Stevens Point was dominant on the boards and from the foul line on the way to a 64-51 win over UW-Stout Wednesday night at Berg Gym. The Pointers shot 31 free throws, compared to just six for Stout, and grabbed 16 offensive boards that they turned into 22 second-chance points.

Stout (3-6, 1-1 WIAC) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and held the lead for nearly the entire first half. Stevens Point (5-4, 2-1 WIAC) finally took the lead with 3:23 to go in the period, going up 24-23 on a jump shot by Taylor Atkinson.

The jumper by Atkinson started a 9-2 Pointers to close out the half, as Stevens Point went into the break with a 33-25 advantage.

Stevens Point would not trail again, but a late game run by the Blue Devils brought Stout within four points with just over two minutes to go. Trailing 53-41 at the 3:11 mark, a jumper by Goldsmith, an and-one by Kyleigh Hebert (Jr, Spencer) and a three-point basket by Sarah Schoch (So, Chippewa Falls) cut the lead to 53-49 with 2:01 to go.

That would be as close as the Blue Devils would get, as the Pointers closed out the game on an 11-2 run to seal the 64-51 victory.
