STANDISH, Maine --- Even a mid-week game against a good opponent could not stop the Colby College women's basketball team from staying unbeaten with a 65-53 victory over St. Joseph's College on Wednesday.

Colby equaled last year's win total in moving to 7-0 overall. The Mules will entertain Bowdoin College at 2 p.m. Saturday in the final game of the first semester. 

Carylanne Wolfington was 3-for-7 from 3-point range on the way to 21 points for the Mules. Mia Diplock added 13 points and six steals, while Kate Parsons was 3-for-4 from the field for 12 points. Caitlyn Nolan added seven points for the winners.

Colby shot 16-for-16 from the field, with Wolfington and Parsons both shooting 6-for-6 and Diplock at 4-for-4. The Monks were 6-for-9 from the foul line.

The other big difference for Colby was turnovers and steals. The Mules forced 25 St. Joseph's turnovers and had 18 of their own. Colby had 15 steals to St. Joseph's seven.

Morgan Cahill led the Monks (5-2 overall) with 22 points and Sarah Assante had 11 points and six assists.

The Monks held an early 4-2 lead before Colby used an 8-0 run to go up 10-4. The Mules held two leads of 15 points in the first half, including the 38-23 margin at halftime.

The Mules led 49-30 with 14:27 left in the game, but Colby went in a dry spell over the next 4:30 of the contest. The Monks also went cold at the same time, helping the Mules stay in front 51-33 with 9:47 to go.

St. Joseph's got as close as 11 points (60-49) on an Emily Kehoe 3-point shot with 2:07 to play.
