FOREST GROVE, Ore. – A trio of double-digit scoring performances, including a double-double from Olivia Cook, pushed the Pacific women's basketball team to a 76-74 victory over the visiting Carleton Knights on Saturday inside of the Stoller Center.

Pacific fell behind the visitors early as Carleton jumped out to an 11-4 advantage over the opening three minutes. Following a pair of free throws from Skylar Tsutsui to put the Knights up 11-4, Cook (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) hit a pair of her own to pull the Boxers within five as the clock read 16:48 left in the first half.

The Knights looked to answer, but saw Sarah Curl (So., Portland, Ore.) come-up with a steal to return the ball to the Pacific end. After a missed Boxers layup, Curl snagged the offensive rebound and hit with a layup to pull Pacific within three.

For the second straight Carleton possession the Boxers came up with a steal as Kaila Johnson (Sr., McKinleyville, Calif.) stripped Nnenna Ezem and quickly found Lauren Lykins (Fr., Hillsboro, Ore.) who assisted on a fast break layup from Abby Jones (Sr., Haines, Alaska).

Trailing by one-point with 16 minutes left in the opening period, the Boxers returned from a timeout break with a back-and-forth of missed opportunities with the Knights before Maia LaBoy (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii) grabbed a defensive rebound and assisted on a layup by Cook, which gave Pacific a 12-11 lead with 14:32 on the clock.

Pacific continued its run to the 11:13 mark when Wendy Lo snapped Pacific's 14-point run, which opened on Cook's free throws and ended after a jumper from Pherrari Brumbaugh (Jr. Wasilla, Alaska). The Knights went on a short run of their own cutting Pacific's nine-point lead down to five with a Gabbi Stienstra 3-pointer with 8:40 left in the first half.

The Boxers followed the Carleton 3-pointer with a eight-point run to take a 34-21 lead, which soon grew to 15 after Curl followed a Sarah Waldfogel free throw with a 3-pointer off an assist from LaBoy. A two-point Carleton swing was answered by a Curl 3-pointer and Jones free throw to put Pacific up 17 with 4:52 remaining in the first half.

Pacific saw Carleton chisel away at its lead as the Knights pulled within six of the Boxers before Cook made good on the front end of a pair of free throws to give Pacific a seven-point advantage before the halftime buzzer sounded.

Cook led all scorers with 11 points at half, while Curl followed closely with 10. Both Cook and Curl finished the opening period with 6 rebounds each.

The second period opened with back-and-forth action as the Knights cut Pacific's lead to five, before the Boxers regained control and pushed the lead to as many as 10 points at the 8:34 mark. Trailing 63-53 with 8:12 left in regulation, Carleton got back-to-back jumpers from Kayla Frank and Michele Arima to pull within six of Pacific. Curl responded with a jumper to add to Pacific's cushion.

The eight-point cushion quickly disappeared when Stienstra hit a 3-pointer and was followed by Lo scoring three points over two trips to the free throw line. Trailing by one-point with 4:25 left in the second period, Carleton suffered a costly foul as Arima sent Jones to the free throw line for a pair of made free throws and the start of a four-point swing for Pacific.

The Boxers led 69-64 with 3:34 remaining and soon were forced to regain the five-point advantage after a layup from Johnson followed a pair of made Ezem free throws.

Johnson was followed on her made layup and finished the three-point play to give Pacific the 72-66 lead with 2:17 remaining.

Stienstra hit from the 3-point line at 1:56 before misses on both sides returned the ball to Pacific with 56 seconds left in regulation. Johnson recovered a missed 3-pointer from Anna Surrey and was promptly sent to the free throw line by Lo, where she would connect on both opportunities from the charity stripe.

The seesaw battle continued with a jumper from Ezem and a made free throw from Jones to leave Pacific with a 75-71 advantage with 31 seconds on the clock. On the Carleton side of the floor Arima missed a 3-pointer, and watched Lo grab an offensive rebound. Lo was sent to the free throw line by Jones, but failed to connect on the front end of a one-and-one giving Pacific the ball as the rebound fell out of bounds.

After a Pacific turnover on the inbounds pass, Stienstra was followed on a 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining. Stienstra hit the first of three free throws before a Pacific timeout successfully iced Stienstra, as the games top scorer missed the next two chances from the line. The third free throw fell off the rim into the hands of Surrey who scored a layup to pull the Knights within one-point of the Boxers with three seconds left.

Pacific inbounded the ball to Johnson, who was quickly fouled and made her first free throw and put Pacific up 76-74. After Johnson missed her second free throw the rebound deflected out of bounds off a Carleton player, allowing the Boxers to run out the clock on a 76-74 home victory.

Curl and Jones led Pacific with 14 points each, while Stienstra led all scorers with 20 points for Carleton. Cook led all players with 11 rebounds, while completing her double-double with 13 points. Curl added to her stat line with eight rebounds.

Johnson led Pacific with three steals, while Jones, LaBoy and Lykins each dished out four assists on the evening.

Pacific hits the road on Monday for a 6 p.m. tip against Corban in Salem, Ore.
