Hope Answers Albion's Challenge

HOLLAND, Mich. – Third-ranked Hope reeled off a 14-3 run early in the second half to pull away for a 69-53 victory over Albion in Wednesday night Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.

Mikaela Bromley and Brett de Bear scored on consecutive possessions to pull Albion within 35-31.

Maura Mcafee carried Hope on the decisive run, scoring seven of her 17 points. She completed her double-double with 11 rebounds. Brittany Berry knocked down four shots from 3-point range to lead the Flying Dutch with 18 points. Anna Kaufman and Hannah Doell produced 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Brett de Bear scored 17 for Albion, moving her into third place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,220 points. She needs 10 in her career finale Saturday against Saint Mary's to move past Melissa Washburn for second place.

Emily DeWaters produced season-highs of 15 points and 12 rebounds to secure her first double-double of the season.
