BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team set a new school record for wins in a season by defeating Gordon College Tuesday night with a 66-44 win.

RWU earned its 20th win of the season, breaking the previous mark of 19 wins set by last year's team that finished 19-9.

The first half of the game started with a basket by Gordon's Fredi Nielsen (Bridgeport, Conn.) to give them the first points of the game. Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, Conn.) answered with a basket for Roger Williams. However, offense for the Hawks was hard to come by, as RWU connected on only three of its first 17 attempts.

Skylar Bareford (Stonington, Conn.) hit a three-pointer to break a 6-6 tie and regain the lead for Gordon. The Scots were was able to hang on to the lead for the majority of the first half thanks to poor shooting by the Hawks. Roger Williams was able to tie up the game a few times but never able to take the lead.

That changed at the 5:09 mark when Alyssa Otis (Torrington, Conn.) made a free throw, followed by a rebound and basket by Amanda Keane (Wilmington, Mass.) to put the Hawks up by three.

Gordon tied it up again with a three-point shot from Olivia Vetere (Mahopac, N.Y.), but a Katie Lowerre (Sharon, Mass.) jumper helped spark a 10-0 run for RWU. RWU would outscore Gordon 16-7 over the rest of the period, as Roger Williams went into halftime up 30-21.

The Hawks started off strong in the second half with a three-point basket by Ari Renwick (Westwood, Mass.). They continued to increase their lead early on, using a 17-5 run over the first six minutes to take a 21-point lead.

RWU shot fairly better in the period, hitting on 15 of 34 attempts (44.4%) as compared to the team's 32.4% performance in the first half. Gordon managed to shoot 36% in the half, going 9-for-36.

Bovee was the top scorer with 17 points along with nine rebounds. Angelica Ariola (Prospect, Conn.) followed with 14 points for the Hawks and seven rebounds. Shannon Cullen (Walpole, Mass.) scored ten points with three boards.

Lauren Kranyak (Locust Grove, Va.) led the Fighting Scots ten points along with five rebounds. Nielsen went for four points, ten rebounds, and three blocks, while Vetere had eight points and four boards.

Roger Williams (20-4, 15-2) travels to the University of New England for their last game of the regular season, while Gordon (5-19, 1-16 CCC) wraps up the year at home versus Eastern Nazarene, both games on Saturday.
