Fast Start Leads Farmingdale State Over NYU-Poly

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team led by 16 at half en route to a 75-52 Skyline Conference victory at NYU-Poly on Wednesday evening. The Rams improved to 12-8 overall and 9-1 in conference play, while the Fighting Blue Jays fell to 2-18, 0-10.

Farmingdale State led 27-5 with 7:04 left in the first half, before seven straight NYU-Poly points pulled the Fighting Blue Jays within 15. The Rams took a 33-17 lead into the break as Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) and Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored 10 and seven points, respectively in the half.

The Rams quickly put the game out of reach using a 10-0 run to start the second half which opened up a 28-point advantage, 45-17. The Fighting Blue Jays were unable to bring the deficit below 20 points as Farmingdale State picked up the road victory.

Romero scored a team-high 14 points, while Desvignes finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Junior guard Nicole Lanteri (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting and senior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) added eight points and 11 boards.

NYU-Poly was led by sophomore guard Alyssa D'Apice (Carmel, N.Y.) who tallied a game-high 26 points and added nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.

The Rams next will host Sage on Saturday, February 15th at 1:00 p.m.
