The Eagles shot 13-of-31 in the first half while holding the visitors to just 21.6 percent to run out to a 29-17 halftime lead. GMC junior guard Amber Heath poured in 10 points in the half including two threes.

The opening five minutes of the second half was a completely different story as the Terriers forced turnovers and rebounded the ball well on the offensive end to cut the deficit to just 31-29 with a 12-2 run.

The Eagles managed to maintain their slim lead through the midway point of the second half, but Thomas eventually knotted the score at 34 thanks to two made free throws by sophomore forward Katie McAllister.

The lead changed hands several times through the next five minutes until the Terriers were able to string together five straight points to take a 47-42 lead. The Eagles chipped that lead down to three courtesy of three free throws from sophomore guard Allison Wadsworth.

That was as close as the score would be, however, as the Terriers converted on their free throws to ice the game.

In many respects, the teams competed well in virtually every category, but the lone marker that served as a decisive factor in the victory was Thomas' ability to force Green Mountain into several turnovers at key junctures in the game.

Thomas (3-12, 3-6 NAC) received a well-balanced offensive game from its players.  Leading the way was McAllister with 13 points.  Senior forward Elizabeth Goodall contributed 11 points and 8 rebounds, while sophomore forward Ashleigh Gagne scored nine points while pulling down a game-high 11 caroms.

Green Mountain (1-12, 0-9 NAC) had three players score double-digit points with Wadsworth leading the way with a game-high 14.  Heath and sophomore forward Torie Cowell had 13 and 12 points, respectively.  Cowell and senior forward Virginia Anderson each nabbed 10 rebounds in the game.

Thomas will make the short trip to Castleton to play the Spartans tomorrow at the same time.
