(Lynchburg, Va.) Eastern Mennonite's women's basketball team continued their tear through the ODAC, beating the Randolph College Wildcats, 72-54 on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg. EMU is now 11-1 in the ODAC and 17-4 on the season.

Randolph College kept the EMU on their toes for the beginning of the first half, never allowing the lead to advance past four points until the 13:56 mark. That was the beginning of a 14-2 run for the Royals that put a cushion of 27-10 between the two teams. EMU kept a comfortable separation throughout the remainder of the half, including a three-pointer by Steph Rheinheimer (Manheim, Pa. / Lancaster Mennonite) with 1:03 to go in the half.

Bianca Ygarza (Conestoga, Pa. / Penn Manor) scored nine of her game-high 16 points in the first half. Rheinheimer added nine to the first half effort, which accounted for all of her points in the game. EMU shot just 32.4% from the field in the first half and went 5-14 from beyond the arc. The Royals took a 35-22 lead into the halftime break.

Both teams found their shooting rhythm while in the locker rooms. EMU shot 51.9% from the field in the second half and used the shoulders of Keyla Baltimore (Bristow, Va. / Brentsville District) to do it. She scored 14 points in the final 20 minutes, having not put any points on the board in the first half. She also stole the ball twice and dished out an assist in the frame.

The Royals never allowed the Wildcats to get within single digits in the second half, despite the Wildcats having a good shooting half as well. They shot 48.4% in the final frame of action.

Jess Rheinheimer (Manheim, Pa. / Lancaster Mennonite), Shakeerah Sykes (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) and Becky Barrett (Damascus, Md. / Damascus) each tallied seven rebounds for the Royals as EMU outrebounded RC 47-31. The Royals' bench scored 24 points in the win while the Wildcats only tallied ten from their reserves. Jess Rheinheimer had eight points off the bench for EMU.

Eastern Mennonite will now take on Bridgewater on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Yoder Arena in Harrisonburg. EMU is 17-4 overall and 11-1 in the ODAC while BC is 7-13 overall and 5-7 in the conference.
