The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team made a season-high 13 three-pointers and led by as many as 28 points in an 80-57 win over the Utica College Pioneers Tuesday night in an Empire 8 conference game.

Fisher, now 13-8 overall, moves above .500 with a 6-5 record in conference play, while Utica remains winless in the conference standings at 0-11.

After exchanging baskets to begin the game, Fisher broke a 14-14 tie after an 11-2 run capped by a Camaryn Buckner jumper in the paint gave the Cardinals a 25-16 lead with 7:26 remaining in the opening stanza.

The Cardinals weren't done there however, opening up a 16-point lead after back-to-back three point field goals by Sydney Bloomstein and Portia Velasco kicked-off a 14-4 Fisher run to make it 39-23.

Utica would cut Fisher's lead to 10 points, 39-29, after a 6-0 run, but two technical fouls allowed the Cardinals to add to their lead as Velasco sank six free-throws to close out the half with Fisher leading 46-29.

The Cardinals opened up a 23-point lead after Bloomstein created some space and beat her defender leading to a lay-up.

The Pioneers would come to within 17 points after a 7-2 run, but Fisher would open up a 28-point lead, 67-39, after outscoring Utica 11-2 in nearly four minutes of play highlighted by back-to-back triples from McKenzie Bezon and Bloomstein.

Fisher shot nearly 62% from beyond the arc and tallied 22 assists on 29 made field goals.  The Cardinals got it done on the defensive end as well, forcing Utica into 19 turnovers, while holding the Pioneers to 33% shooting for the game.

Velasco led the way for Fisher with 18 points including 8-of-9 from the charity stripe.  Bloomstein continued to have the hot hand as of late, scoring in double-figures for the fifth-straight game with 15 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.  Camaryn Buckner had 13 points, five rebounds and two steals, while Mary Kate Cusack dropped 11 points in the win including three from distance.

The Cardinals will make their return to Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium at 8 p.m. on Friday against the Houghton College Highlanders.  Fisher beat Houghton earlier this season, 69-54.
