DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College held Wilkes University to 20.3 percent shooting from the field and never trailed as the Aggies remained unbeaten at home with Saturday's afternoon's 73-40, Freedom Conference victory.

With the win, the Aggies eclipsed their total win mark from last year as they improved to 12-7 on the season, including a perfect 7-0 at James Work Gymnasium. More importantly, they upped their conference record to 5-3 and remained tied with DeSales University for third place. They are both two games ahead of both Manhattanville College and Misericordia University with six games to play (top four qualify for the Freedom Conference tournament). Delaware Valley, which beat DeSales at home earlier this year, will travel to Center Valley to take on the Bulldogs on Wednesday, February 5.

It was all Aggies on Saturday as they never trailed in the contest. They held the Lady Colonels (4-14, 1-7) to just six field goals in 37 attempts (16.2 percent) in the first half while the conference's leading scorer, Elena Stambone (20.0 avg) was held scoreless. Meanwhile, Delaware Valley hit 14 of 30 attempts (46.7 percent) and had a 14-2 advantage in fast-break points.

Up 10-8 eight minutes into the contest, the Aggies outscored Wilkes, 24-7, the rest of the way to take a 34-15 lead into the intermission. Brenna Coll scored nine of her 13 first-half points in the run while Eireann Anastasi had all six of her first-half points.

The second half was much of the same as Brittany Wood scored the first basket with a deep three that sparked a 7-4 run.  The run was capped by two free throws from freshman Sam Foy to put Delaware Valley ahead, 44-19.  The Aggies put it in cruise control from there as Wilkes never got closer than 16 points the rest of the way while the lead went up to as many as 33.

All 11 healthy Aggies saw the court in the game with all but one finding their way in the scoring column.  Coll led all players with 16 points and 11 rebounds to go along with four assists. Anastasi finished with 12 points and a game-high seven assists while Shannon Barlow contributed 10 points and 6 boards.  Foy also had a nice day with eight points on 4-for-6 shooting while freshman Devin Daley scored the first four points of her collegiate career thanks to a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line.

Wilkes, which finished 14-for-69 from the field, was led by junior forward Chelsea Brown and her 11 points and six rebounds. Ginny Edwards finished with seven points and five rebounds while Stambone was held to just six points on 1-for-9 shooting.
