Brooklyn Uses Strong Second Half To Cruise Past Lehman, 75-56

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team won their third game in six days, cruising past conference foe Lehman College, who prior to today was one game behind the Bulldogs in the conference standings. With the win, BC improves to 15-5, 8-3 CUNYAC, while the Lightning fall to 12-8, 6-5. 

Lehman started the contest hot, as two three pointers, one a piece from freshman guards Amely Del Rosario and Genesis Liberato, helped build an early 8-2 advantage.

Brooklyn would use a 7-0 run, capped by a Megan Campbell bucket, to take a 9-8 advantage. The Lightning would immediately answer with a 10-5 run of their own, as Amani Lighthouse would sink two free throws to give her team an 18-14 lead.

The Bulldogs picked up their play after that point, going on a 24-8 run, to take a commanding 38-26 lead with 51 seconds to go in the half. Lehman would close the half strong, scoring four straight to cut the deficit to 38-30 going into the intermission.

At the half, Brooklyn's Nacirema Mann, who came off the Bulldog bench, would lead all scorers with 12.

Brooklyn began the second half on fire as they took an eight point lead and ballooned it to 20 within the first 6:27 of the period. 

During that run, Campbell and Mann dominated as Campbell poured in seven points and Mann added six. 

The Lightning were twice able to cut the deficit to 11, however the Bulldogs used a 14-2 run to push the lead to a game-high 23 points, before capturing the final 19-point victory.

Mann had game-highs of 22 points and 10 boards, while Campbell added 19.

Point guard Nicole Francomano chipped in 12 points, six assists and a pair of steals, while Carissa Williamscontributed with nine points and four assists. Chrisine Pinnock filled up the stat sheet in limited minutes with three points, six boards, three assists and three steals of the BC bench.

Lighthouse led Lehman with 17 points.

Brooklyn will travel to Baruch on Monday for a 5:30 tip-off, in a game crucial to the conference standings as the Bearcats currently are in second place with two losses, while the Bulldogs are in third place with three losses.

"We did a great job on the boards and getting good shots in the second half," said head coach Alex Lang. "Today's win was big in the standings. We look forward to continuing to compete and trying to improve with each game."
