Riverdale, N.Y. – Paced by a career-high 21 points from freshman Brittany Lee (Newton, N.J.) and a team-high 23 points from junior Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.), the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team picked up a 77-70 league victory over Old Westbury on Saturday. The win moved the Mount to 10-1 at home this season.

Mount Saint Vincent held Old Westbury without a point for the first 3:55 of the game and scored the first eight points of the game to storm out to a 8-0 advantage on a Theresa Carey (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) lay-in three-and-a-half minutes into the contest.

The Dolphins would maintain the lead in the half until the 10:41 mark of the first period when a Clarissa Gallagher triple for the Panthers tied the score at 16-16. The Mount would answer with the next four points to regain the advantage, but saw Old Westbury use an 8-2 spurt to take its first lead of the game at 24-22. The Dolphins were held to 1-for-8 shooting over the stretch of 3:20 and saw Olivia Ilardi score half of the Panthers points over the run.

Brooke West (Hamilton, N.J.) got the Dolphins back even with a pair of free-throws with just over five minutes left before halftime, but the Mount would not be able to get back in front of the Panthers until a Fraser lay-in with 3:47 left before the half pushed it in front 30-28.

The Dolphins would extend their lead to as many as seven points twice in the final 2:35 of the half and took a 39-34 advantage into the locker room. Fraser led all scorers at the break with 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds. She also blocked five shots for the Mount in the opening 20 minutes.

Mount Saint Vincent finished the first half shooting 38.6-percent from the floor, but held Old Westbury to a 10-for-37 effort. The Dolphins outscored Old Westbury 26-8 in the paint in the first half and recorded 12 second chance points off of 13 offensive rebounds.

Chloe Mellon came out of halftime and buried a three-pointer for Old Westbury to get its disadvantage down to three points, but the Dolphins scored 11 of the next 15 points to jump in front 50-40 on a Christina Barone (Staten Island, N.Y.) layup just under three minutes into the half.

Old Westbury answered the Mount Saint Vincent spurt with a 9-2 run over 2:29 to get back to within three points on another Gallagher triple with 13:15 to play in regulation. The 54-51 deficit would be as close as the Panthers would get the rest of the day.

The Dolphins got their lead back to double-figures on a Carey jumper with 11:07 left in the contest and moved in front by a game-high 12 points, at 66-54, on a Lee triple with 8:55 remaining. The Mount would not let the Panthers closer than seven points the rest of the contest, with a Raven Pentz layup in the final seconds bringing the Panthers to the final 77-70 decision.

The Dolphins finished the game shooting just over 37-percent from the floor and held Old Westbury to 31.5-percent shooting. Old Westbury hauled in 26 offensive rebounds in the game, leading to 25 second chance points, including 14 in the second half.

Lee went 8-for-13 from the field overall and hit four of the Dolphins' five three-pointers in the game. She closed out her fifth career double-double with 12 rebounds and added three blocked shots and three steals.

Fraser continued her strong junior season after going 8-for-18 from the floor overall and 7-for-11 from the free-throw line. She contributed a team-high 14 rebounds to the win to go along with five assists, five blocks and a pair of steals. Fraser has now recorded a double-double in each of the last eight games and is averaging 19.6 points and 14.6 rebounds over that stretch.

Barone chipped in with nine points and led all players with eight assists on Saturday, with Nicole Oliver (Carmel, N.Y.) adding seven points off the bench. Tanisha Montague (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Carey each finished the game with five rebounds for the Dolphins.

Old Westbury got a game-high 24 points and 17 rebounds from DeAndra Scott and 14 points and six boards from Mellon. Gallagher finished with 10 points for the Panthers and Pentz totaled eight points and 11 rebounds.

Saturday's win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 13-4 overall on the season and to 6-2 in league play. The Dolphins will be back in action on Tuesday when they close out the season series with Purchase. The road tilt with the Panthers is set for 6:00 p.m.
