Women's Basketball Drops Defensive Battle

Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fell by the score of 70-57 on Wednesday evening in AMCC action to Pitt-Greensburg on their home floor.

The Mounties struggled on the offensive end throughout the game as they shot just 26.1%, but kept it close at 32-23 at halftime due to solid defensive pressure and rebounding. In the first half, Kaleigh Roop kept the Mounties in the game with seven points and seven rebounds.

The Mounties got within striking distance late in the game, but were forced to foul and Greensburg hit their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Lindsy Sammarco used a 7-for-8 showing at the line to finish with 17 points, while Olivia Rupp also finished in double figures with 11 points to go with four rebounds. Becky Bard recorded nine points, eight boards and four steals in the loss.

The Mounties will look to get back on the winning track on Saturday when they travel to Hilbert for another AMCC contest.
