Erie, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team went on the road and completed the season sweep of Penn State Behrend with a 66-44 victory on Thursday, Jan. 23.

The Panthers' Alicia Kimmel completed the double-double with 13 points and a season-high 15 rebounds. Kimmel added two assists to her stellar night on the floor.

Freshman Kaserra Owens finished with a team-high 16 points, five rebounds and four assists. Senior Geena Sneeringer ended her night with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Pitt-Bradford (10-7, 6-4) did not get off to the start it could have hoped for in the first several minutes of action. The Panthers fell behind by a score of 9-1 after more than eight minutes of play.

Moments later, freshman Brittany Watts laid the ball in the bucket off the backboard to spark the Panthers' offense with plenty of time remaining in the first half. The Panthers seemed to get in a groove from that point on and took their first lead with 8:12 left to play after an Owens' layup.

The two squads took turns taking the lead over the next few minutes before the Panthers bowed their necks and began refusing offensive production from the Lions. Owens drained back-to-back free throws and assisted Madison Krebs on a layup with just seconds left before halftime to send the Panthers to the locker room with the lead, 27-18.

Pitt-Bradford headed into the break shooting 38.5 percent from the floor and did not attempt a triple in the first half. The Panthers were 7-of-8 from the line.

The Lions finished the first period shooting 33.3 percent from the field, including 18.2 percent from behind the arc. They were 2-of-3 from the charity stripe.

Penn State Behrend (2-13, 1-8) got off to a quick start in the second half, draining its first three-point attempt. The Lions' offense quickly stalled however, as the Panthers' defense pressured Penn State Behrend into multiple turnovers.

Pitt-Bradford's offense began to operate at-will, and the Panthers watched their lead grow tremendously during the second twenty minutes. The Blue and Gold moved to an 18-point lead on a Casey Stringer jump shot barely seven minutes into the second period.

Pitt-Bradford used multiple subs over the next few minutes to keep fresh legs on the court and not allow for a letup in the offensive momentum. The Panthers have had trouble in recent contests with securing the basketball on the offensive end of the court. That never seemed to be the case tonight as the offense struck early and often for the duration of the second half.

The Panthers moved to a 20-plus point advantage with just over one minute remaining in the action. Allison Osborne went to the line with 24 seconds left to play, going 2-for-2, and capping a spectacular night on the court for Pitt-Bradford.

"We did not start the game well," said head coach Patrick Daniel. "But we did a very good job of regaining focus, playing good defense and rebounding the basketball to help spark better offense in the second half. We still have to get better but I am happy with the total team effort in this win."

The Panthers finished the game shooting 44.6 percent and did not attempt a triple throughout the contest. They were 16-of-22 at the line.

Penn State Behrend ended the game shooting 34.7 percent from field, including 21.7 percent from behind the arc. The Lions finished 5-of-9 from the charity stripe.

Pitt-Bradford returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 25, as the Panthers travel to face Penn State Altoona. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
