Brooklyn Runs Past Purchase, 76-37; Extends Win Streak to Five Straight

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team extending its winning streak to a season-high five straight on Wednesday night with its convincing 76-37 victory over Purchase College in a non-conference match up at the West Quad Center.

With the win, the Bulldogs move to 12-4 overall on the season as the team has now won nine of its last 10 games. The Panthers drop to an even 7-7 overall on the year with the loss.

BC's tenacious defense set the tone early as the Bulldogs scored 27 points off of 20 first half turnovers by Purchase. The Panthers were held to 33.3% (7-for-21) shooting from the field, including going 0-for-5 from beyond the arc. The visitors also struggled from the free throw line converting just 2-of-8 (25.0%) in the period.

Senior Megan Campbell and junior Nicole Francomano scored 12 points apiece in the opening half as Brooklyn would surge out to a commanding 42-16 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs would continue to lead throughout the second half as BC would go on to cruise to its 76-37 victory.

Junior Carissa Williams led all scorers with a game-high 17 points, to go along with seven rebounds, while Campbell finished with 15 points and eight rebounds. Francomano nearly recorded her second triple-double of the year, concluding the night with 14 points, nine assists and eight steals. Junior Nacirema Mann chipped in with 11 points and five steals, while T'Keyah Francis added eight points and 12 rebounds.

Purchase was led by Deanna Jones' team-high eight points, while Elizabeth Osowiecki added seven points.

Brooklyn will return to action this Saturday, January 25th as the Bulldogs will travel across the Verrazano Bridge to take on the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island in a key City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) meeting. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm and BC Radio will be on hand to broadcast the game.
