Jeter’s All-Around Effort Helps Lead William Paterson Women’s Basketball to 81-73 Win

WAYNE, N.J. – Senior forward Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) scored nine of her 15 points during the second half, adding 11 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and a career-best six blocked shots to help lead the William Paterson women's basketball team (8-7, 5-3 NJAC) to an 81-73 win against visiting Ramapo (7-7, 4-4 NJAC) Jan. 15.

 

Senior guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) collected 18 tallies and seven assists, while sophomore guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) went 10-for-10 at the free-throw line en route to her 18 points.

 

During a first half that featured 18 lead changes and eight ties, the Pioneers carried a slim 38-37 advantage into the locker room. Borova accounted for a third of WP's points (13), helping William Paterson enjoy a 22-4 edge in points in the paint.

 

WP scored nine of the first 11 points of the second period, jumping out to a 47-39 lead with 16:31 on the clock, and owned its largest advantage of the contest at 63-52 at the 6:14 mark.

 

Still up by double digits (74-64) with 83 seconds remaining, the Roadrunners made a late push, getting to within four at 77-73 when senior guard Alayna Donadio drained a three-pointer with 0:18 on the clock. The comeback was stymied by senior guard Kristine Jackiewicz (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and Harden combining for a 4-for-4 effort from the charity stripe during the closing seconds.

 

Senior forward Micaela Moore led all scorers with 20 points, adding 10 rebounds. Donadio had 14 tallies and junior guard Jackie Jerkovich contributed 13 points for Ramapo.

 

The Roadrunners bested the Pioneers in field-goal (.414 to .389) and three-point field-goal (.368 to .263) percentage, but WP forced twice as many turnovers as it committed (20-9), cashing in for a 17-8 edge in points off the miscues.

 

William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Camden Saturday, Jan. 18, at 1:00 p.m.
