Farmingdale State - 72, Albertus Magnus - 59


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Senior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds as Farmingdale State earned a 72-59 victory over Albertus Magnus this evening. The Rams improved to 4-4 on the year, while the Falcons fell to 3-10.

Tied 39-39 early in the second half, a 5-0 Farmingdale State run put the Rams ahead 44-39 with 15:15 left to play. Albertus Magnus closed within two, 52-50, before a Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) layup and free-throw and a pair of free-throw's by Jeanette Spillane (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) increased the lead to seven with 9:25 remaining. Albertus Magnus junior guard Taylor Jagoe (Milford, Conn.) answered with a 3-pointer but the Rams responded with a 15-0 run to open up their largest lead of the game at 72-53. The Falcons scored the final six points but fell, 72-59.

Farmingdale State junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) scored 14 points, while Spillane added 11 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Savadel added five points and 10 boards in the victory.

Senior guard Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) scored a team-high 22 points and became the all-time leading scorer at Albertus Magnus. Senior forward Annie Raucci (Milford, Conn.) tallied a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Rams next will host Manhattanville in a non-conference game on Thursday, January 9th at 5:00 p.m.
