DAYTONA BEACH (FL) – Delaware Valley College rallied from an 11-point, second-half deficit and then held on at the end for its fifth straight victory, a 68-66 triumph over Trinity College of Connecticut at the 2013 Land of Magic Classic.

The Aggies won both of their contests in Florida (72-62 victory over University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday) and will return home with a 7-3 overall record. They have won seven of their last eight games and will not hit the court again until January 6 when they travel to Haverford College.

Delaware Valley jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead but the Bantams (4-5) scored eight of the next nine for their lone lead of the opening half. And it only lasted 17 seconds before Agatha Drozd scored seven straight for a 14-8 Aggie advantage with 11:21 remaining.

Delaware Valley led by as many as seven on three different occasions in the first half with the last being 28-21 with 2:33 left on the clock. Four different Trinity players then scored as part of 9-2 run to send the teams into the locker room tied at 30-30.

The first 10 minutes of the second stanza belonged to the Bantams. They opened the half with a 9-2 run before Delaware Valley answered with nine of the next 12 to pull to within one, 42-41. Trinity then used a balanced attack for a 12-2 run that upped its advantage to 54-43.

The Bantams were still up eight after Hannah Brickley sank a jumper with 8:06 remaining to make it a 56-48 contest. It was all Delaware Valley for the next six-plus minutes as they exploded for a 19-4 run to take 67-60 lead with 1:54 left. Six different players scored for the Aggies, including Brittany Wood who had nine points in the spurt. She also hit the back-to-back treys that gave her squad the lead for good.

Trinity did not go away and consecutive 3-pointers by Taylor Hancock and Kaitlin Lewis made it a 67-66 ballgame with 40 seconds left. Kelsey Kilpatrick was fouled 30 seconds later and the sophomore hit one of two free throws for a two-point lead. The Bantams came down the court and Alexa Mendard's game-tying jumper at the buzzer was off the mark and Delaware Valley had the victory.

Wood, who transferred in from Neumann University prior to the season, had her finest game in an Aggie uniform as the junior was 7-for-11 from the field, including a 5-for-9 effort from beyond the arc. She finished with a season-high 22 points with 17 coming in the second half. Wood also added eight rebounds.

The other four Delaware Valley starters also hit double digits in scoring. Drozd finished with 12 points and eight boards while Eireann Anastasi, Shannon Barlow and Brenna Coll had 10 points apiece. The trio also combined for 13 rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Brickley had a double-double for Trinity as she finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Sheena Landy contributed eight points, five assists, four rebounds and four steals off the bench while Lewis also came off the bench and poured in seven points.
