Baruch Notches Season-High 20 Steals, Get Great Bench Support, Rout CCNY (82-49)

The women's basketball team overcame another slow start to defeat the Beavers of the City College of New York, 82-49, in a CUNYAC road contest played on Tuesday night in Harlem.

The game was tightly contested early with the Bearcats narrowly leading, 20-19, with 5:33 left before the halftime whistle. They exploded in the final five minutes with a 17-5 run to lead 37-24 into the break.

They carried the momentum into the second half and led by as much as 29 points (67-38) midway through the half by taking advantage of 26 turnovers to score 28 points en route to improving to 3-0 in conference play.

The bench was also instrumental in the win with 28 total points, which included a career-high 16 points from
Kristen Podlovits. She shot 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range to give the Bearcats the spark in the victory.

Sheridan Taylor led all scorers with 17 points and missed a double-double with nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Alicea Ulmer totaled 15 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Francess Henry had another all-around effort with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Symone Green scored a career-high eight points off the bench.

The visiting Bearcats combined for a season-high 20 steals and were a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Bria Fisher led the Beavers with 12 points and four rebounds.

The Bearcats will finish their first half season schedule before the final exam/holiday break on Friday, December 13 with a 6:00 pm conference contest at York College in Jamaica, New York.
