Second half scoring drought dooms Women's Basketball

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball dropped a 76-69 decision to Mount Mercy Sunday on Bo Ryan Court. 

The Pioneers (4-3) were led by juniors Alyssa Krajco and Stacy Clark. Krajoc led all scorers with 18 points, and Clark added 11 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. 

The Mustangs tallied five players in double figures with Amanda Frost and Makenzie Zeitler each netting 14. Callan Timm and Abby Herb scored 12 points apiece and Alisa Weiland added 11. 

With the game knotted up at 9-9, the Pioneers scored seven unanswered to take a seven-point lead with 12:26 left in the first half.  UW-Platteville took its largest lead of the game of nine points just over 10 minute left in the half and managed to take a 36-30 lead into the break. 

A five-minute scoring drought by the Pioneers allowed Mount Mercy to take the lead with 12:08 left to play. The Mustangs answered every UW-Platteville basket with one of their own in the final 10 minutes, and took home the 76-69 win. 

The Pioneers open conference play on Wednesday when they travel to UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m.
