GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Shannon McGinnis scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the third-seeded Knights to a 88-69 victory over sixth-seeded RIT in the first round of the Wendy's College Classic. 

The Knights used 23-7 run over the final 9:54 of the first half to to take a 49-25 lead at intermission. McGinnis was credited with 20 points in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Geneseo would go on to lead by as many as 24 in the second half and cruise to their fourth victory to open the 2013-14 campaign.

Junior forward Katie Peterson added 13 points, while sophomore foward Allison McKennachipped in 12 points while grabbing seven boards for the Knights. Sophomore guard Dana Cohan credited with a career-high nine assists in the win.

The Knights advance to the tournament semifinals to take on defending Wendy's College Classic Champion and second-seeded Rochester, which defeated seventh-seeded Brockport, 56-46, in the night's other game in Schrader Gymnasium. The teams will square off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday night at Roberts Wesleyan.
