Pioneer Women's Basketball triumphs over MSOE

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team was propelled by four double-digit scores, as the Pioneers defeated MSOE, 85-66, Saturday on Bo Ryan Court. 

Alyssa Krajco led all scorers with 18 points, followed by freshman Mykaela Brandt with a career-high 16 points. Junior Stacy Clark added 14 and classmate Rachel Cropp went 5-for-6 for 13 points.Taylor Lorbiecki orchestrated the Pioneer offense dishing out seven assists. 

MSOE's Holley Denfeld recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Shannon Larson and Margaret Pugh added 12 and 11 points respectively. 

The Pioneers went up 5-4 after falling behind 4-0 and never looked back. UW-Platteville took its largest lead of the first half, 31-16, with seven minutes till the break. The Raiders managed to cut their deficit to seven points, 37-30, at halftime. 

The Pioneers came out of halftime scoring seven unanswered, taking a 46-30 lead. UW-Platteville never allowed the Raiders to get any closer than 12 points through the rest of the second half and had its largest lead of 21 points, 84-64, with 2:17 left to play. 

The Pioneers will take their three game winning streak to Decorah, Iowa on Tuesday when they square off with Luther College at 7 p.m.
