Women's Basketball Drops New Rochelle 69-37

The New York University women's basketball team defeated the College of New Rochelle 69-37 on Saturday afternoon, November 23, in New Rochelle, NY. The Violets now improve to 4-0 on the young season.

NYU was led by an all-around attack, with two players scoring in double figures and 12 Violets registering at least two points. Freshman guard Kaitlyn Read led the Violets yet again, scoring a game-high 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore co-captain guard Maya Wasowicz was second for NYU with 10 points. She also pulled in six rebounds.

- Sophomore guard Riley Wurtz scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.

- Freshman guard Amy Harioka had nine points and three steals.

- Sophomore co-captain forward Megan Dawe pulled down a team-high eight rebounds

- Jah-Leah Ellis led the attack for the Blue Angels, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.

"It was a good defensive effort," said Head Coach Lauren Gregory-Hall. "We did a good job containing their top scorer. We can take a lot of positives from this game, but we still have things to work on."

NYU will be back on the court on Tuesday, November 26, at NYU-Poly in Brooklyn. The Violets will meet the Blue Jays at 6:00 p.m. for the first half of a women-men doubleheader.
