HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (November 20, 2013) – Behind four players in double figures, the Drew University women's basketball team defeated Centenary College (2-0) on the road this evening, 67-48. The win improves the Rangers record to 3-0 on the season.

Junior Breana Wilson (Irvington, N.J./Berkshire) was the offensive catalyst for Drew, notching her first career double-double with 12 points and a career-high 10 assists.  Freshman Hannah Miller (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) scored 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, leading all scorers. Sophomore Erin Howard (Tolland, Conn./East Catholic) came off the bench and scored 16 points for the Rangers.

After neither team was able to take control of the game early on, the Rangers received a spark off the bench from Courtney Trzasko (Berlin, Conn./Berlin). The freshman entered the game and knocked down her first four shots, all 3-pointers to help ignite the Drew offense on a 20-7 run.  Drew would not give up the lead for the remainder of the contest after the initial Trazasko three with 10:09 remaining in the first half.

Trzasko scored all 12 of her points in the first 20 minute of play while Milller chipped in 10 to help the Rangers to a 36-26 advantage at the half. The lead might have been larger but the Cyclones were able to keep the game close from the free throw line. Drew got into foul trouble with 10 minutes remaining in the half, sending Centenary to the line 18 times in the first frame. The Cyclones finished the first half going 11-for-18 from the charity stripe.

Howard and Miller locked in over the final 20 minutes to help the Rangers pull away. Howard was a force on both ends of the court, scoring 12 of her 16 points and frustrating the Cyclone offense on the defensive end. She finished with two blocks and seven rebounds. Miller caught fire in the second, sinking 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and a total of 4-of-5 from the floor. The Rangers opened up their largest lead of the contest on an old-fashioned 3-point play by Howard to make the score 66-44 with 4:13 to left in the game.

It marked the second game in a row that the Rangers held their opponents under 50 points. Drew is 3-0 for the first time since the 2009-10 season where they rattled off nine-straight wins to begin the year.

The Rangers will conclude their road trip on Saturday in a non-conference tilt with Manhattanville at 6:30 p.m. in Purchase, N.Y.
