Oxy Falls in Season Opener in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Tiffany Kho scored 12 points off of the bench in her college debut,Michelle Naito-Lo had 11 and Crystal Goodwin added 10.

But the Occidental College women's basketball team got crushed on the boards in a 76-61 loss to St. Olaf in its season opener at Colorado College on Saturday.

Kho, a freshman from Monterey Park, was 6 for 11 from the field with two assists and two steals in 22 minutes.

Naito-Lo and Goodwin each hit a pair of threes.

Oxy got out-rebounded 41-23 and gave up 16 offensive boards.

"We got in a little bit of foul trouble early, which didn't help, but our main problem today was on the glass," Oxy coach Anahit Aladzhanyan said. "You can't give up that many second chance opportunities and expect to win games."

Oxy's leading rebounder was Brittni Walker with four.

The Tigers were down just 39-36 at the half.

Oxy plays one more game in Colorado against Colorado College on Sunday at noon. The Tigers play Colorado College again on Nov. 22 in their home opener at 7 p.m. in Rush Gymnasium.
