Warhawks Advance to Second Round

With the game tied, for the sixth time, at 13-13 with 11:38 on the clock, UW-W broke away with a 12-1 run.  That run built a double digit lead for Whitewater 25-14.  WLC whittled the lead to four, 35-31 at 2:22, but a 6-0 spurt sent UW-W into the lookerroom with a 41-31 lead.

Whitewater shot 54% from the floor in the half, while limiting Warriors 39%.  Whitewater senior center Cortney Kumerow notched a double double in the first half, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. 

Whitewater controlled the game throughout the second half, never allowing WLC to break through Whitewater's double digit lead.

UW-W did not allow any points off of turnovers in the second half, while on the other end of the court the Warhawks converted Warrior turnovers into 11 points.  Whitewater went 9-11 from the line in the final twenty minutes, while Wisconsin Lutheran struggled, going 0-8. 

A significant part of Whitewater's win came at the line, where UW-W went 20-26.  WLC made 8-18 free throws.

Kumerow ended the game with 18 points and four blocked shots.  Mary Merg added 13 points, and Kaitlyn Thill scored 12 for UW-W.  Wisconsin Lutheran did not have a double figure scorer.
