Reading, Pa. (Jan. 14, 2013) - Sophmore guard Kaitlyn Yoh (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) scored seven points in the last five minutes and went 9-for-9 from the free throw line to lead Alvernia University (5-8) to a 56-52 victory of Neumann University (5-10) in non-conference women's basketball at the Physical Education Center.

After Neumann tied the game at 46 all with an 11-0 run, Yoh hit a pair of free throws to spark a 5-0 run for the Crusaders then scored a 3-point play in the paint to give Alvernia a 54-48 lead with 2:28 to play. She added a layup on the Crusaders final possession and finished with 15 points.

Alvernia head coach Kevin Calabria—whose team snapped a 6 game losing skid--was quoted as saying, "It's nice to get a win. Another hard fought game-the girls have given us everything all year long but for our psyche it's definitely nice to come out on top tonight."

Freshman Chelsea Ebersole (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) led all players with 19 points, all of them coming in the first half. The leading three point shooter in the Commonwealth hit 5-8 from beyond the arc helping Alvernia establish a 6-point lead going into the half.

Still holding a 6-point lead 8 minutes into the second half, the Crusaders went on a 7-2 run capped by a 3 from freshman Stevie Fortna (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) to take a 46-35 lead with 9:50 to play.

Neumann answered with one of its three 3s that started the 11-0 run that tied the game at 46 all with 5:01 to play.

Neumann had a pair of players reach double figures led by Bethany Humenik who finished with 17.

As a team, the Crusaders shot 37% from the field and 69% from the stripe.

They return to action on Wednesday when they host Arcadia University in Commonwealth action.
