CHICAGO – Sparked by a career high 20 points from Breanna Madrazo, the University of Rochester rolled past the University of Chicago, 58-37, in women's basketball at the Thomas Ratner Athletic Center on Friday night. 

Rochester moved into a tie for first place in the University Athletic Association with Washington and Emory. All three teams are 8-2. Rochester plays at Washington on Sunday. The Yellowjackets are 16-5 overall, ranked third in the East Region by the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Committee. Chicago is 7-14 overall, 3-7 in the UAA.

Ally Zywicki added eight points. Jackie Walker had six points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Loren Wagner and Amy Woods had four points and 10 rebounds apiece.

Madrazo hit nine of 11 from the floor, two of three outside the arc. Chicago's only double-figure scorer was Claire Devaney. She finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Rochester led, 21-18, in the latter stages of the first half. Danielle McNabb and Paige Aleski hit three-pointers to key an 11-0 run that included a layup from Woods and a jumper by Madrazo. It was 32-21 at halftime.

Chicago chopped the deficit down to seven points twice, the last time on two free throws by Paige Womack. That brought the Maroons within 36-29 with 11:52 left. 

Rochester went on a 16-2 run over the next 6:21 to make it 52-31 with just over five minutes to play. Madrazo hit a pair of treys in the spurt. Zywicki hit one three-pointer. Kristyn Wright, Woods, and Wagner scored two apiece, and Blair Landolphi (seven points) had one free throw.

The Yellowjackets hit 22 of 61 from the field (36.1%), seven of 19 outside the arc (36.8%), and made seven of 12 from the line (58.3%). Chicago was 15 of 59 from the floor (25.4%), two of 18 outside the arc (11.1%), and five of 10 from the line (50%). Led by Woods and Wagner with 10 boards each, the Yellowjackets held a 50-39 advantage on the glass.
