Beasley Leads No. 10 Thomas More to a 73-30 Win Over Chatham in PAC Road Game

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Junior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) scored a game-high 13 points to lead the 10th-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 73-30 win over Chatham University tonight (Wednesday, January 23, 2013) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Athletic & Fitness Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 17-1 overall and remain undefeated in the PAC at 11-0.  With the loss, the Cougars fall to 2-16 overall and 1-10 in the PAC.

Thomas More scored 10 of the first 12 points as it took a 10-2 lead when sophomore forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) made one-of-two free-throws with 14:37 to play in the first half.  The Saints out-scored the Cougars 29-15 the rest of the first half to build a 39-17 lead at halftime.  Thomas More forced 24 Chatham turnovers in the first half, while shooting 45.9 percent from the field.

The Saints continued their dominance in the second half as they out-scored Chatham 34-13 in the half on their way to the 73-30 victory.

For the game, Thomas More out-scored Chatham, 37-2, on points off turnovers and 36-10 in the paint.

Beasley was joined in double-figure scoring by senior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) with 11 points and junior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 10 points.  Sophomore guard Stephanie Krusling (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led the team in rebounding with eight and steals with seven, while Long led the team in assists with six.

The Saints return to action on Saturday (January 26) when they host Waynesburg University at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
