BABSON PARK, Mass. – Babson College senior captain Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.) became just the fifth player in program history to grab 1,000 career rebounds as she led the Beavers to a 75-36 victory over the visiting United States Coast Guard Academy in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

Ranked 20th in the country by D3hoops.com, Babson (15-2 overall, 10-0 NEWMAC) used a 14-2 run early in the game to race out to a 20-6 advantage. Five different players scored during the burst, with first-year Megan Otto (Scituate, Mass.) accounting for four and sophomore Erin Young (Westwood, Mass.) netting three.

The Beavers eventually increased the lead to 25 (39-14) at the break, and Coast Guard never threatened in the second stanza as the hosts cruised to the 75-36 win. Collins finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds, with her final bucket coming off the offensive glass at 13:25. It was her 11th board of the contest and 1,000th of her career, as she joined Nicki Wurdeman '12, Kathleen King '12, Michele Merten '95, and Joanne Choate '90 as the only women's players in Babson history to eclipse the mark.

Otto added a career-high 13 points in the win for the Beavers, while sophomore Briana Hunt (Newton, Mass.) tacked on 12 points. Collins also blocked six shots while securing her Division III- leading 14th double-double of the season.

Coast Guard (6-9 overall, 4-6 NEWMAC) received 10 points and six rebounds from first-year Victoria Sutherland (Houston, Texas) and six points and 10 boards from junior Kaitlin Ward (Saline, Mich.).

GAME NOTES: This was the 35th meeting between the two teams in a series that dates back to 1983. The Beavers now hold a 28-7 advantage over the Bears all-time and have won 13 straight games dating back to 2006… Collins joined King, Wurdeman, and Merten as the only players in program history to reach both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
