(GROVE CITY, Pa.) - The 10th-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team extended its winning streak to 13 games today (Saturday, January 19, 2013) as it defeated Grove City, 61-35, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Grove City College Arena in Grove City, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 6-8 overall and 5-5 in the PAC.

Grove City took an early 2-0 lead when Annie Wells made two free-throws with 16:34 to play in the first half.  Thomas More answered with a 19-9 run capped by a jumper by freshman guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) with 4:19 to play in the half to take a 19-11 lead.  The Wolverines closed out the half on an 8-3 run to cut the lead to 22-19 at halftime when Leah Gibson made a lay-up with two seconds to play in the first half.

Thomas More opened the second half on an 11-0 run to extend the lead to 33-19 with 17:24 to play in the game when senior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a lay-up.  Grove City responded with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 33-24 on a Kelsey Shirey three-pointer with 15-29 to play in the game.  That would be as close as the Wolverines would come as the Saints closed out the game on a 28-11 run capped by a jumper by freshman forward Whitney Dixon (Union, Ky, Ryle) with 55-seconds to play in the game for the final score of 61-35.

Long the Saints in scoring with a game-high 13 points, while junior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) just missed double-figure scoring with eight points.  Kitchen led the team in the boards with a game-high 10 rebounds and led the team in steals with two.  Long led the team in assists with eight.

Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (January 23) when it travels to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to play Chatham University at 6 p.m.
