(BETHANY, W.Va.) - The 10th-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team had four players reach double-figure scoring tonight (Wednesday, January 16, 2013) as it defeated Bethany College, 95-42, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Nutting Gymnasium in Hummel Field House in Bethany, West Virginia.

With the win, the Saints improve to 15-1 overall and close out the first half of the PAC schedule at 9-0.  With the loss, the Bison fall to 5-11 overall and 3-6 in the PAC.

Thomas More took an early 5-2 lead when senior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a three-pointer with 17:03 to play in the first half.  Bethany tied the game at 5-5 when Taylor Verrico converted and old fashion three-point play with 16:50 to play in the opening half.  The Saints answered with a 43-12 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 48-17 with 40-seconds to play in the half when sophomore guard Stephanie Krusling (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) made a lay-up.  The Bison's Kayla Taormina made a lay-up with 17-seconds to play in the half to cut the Saints' lead to 48-19 at halftime.

The second half was all Thomas More as the Saints built a 56-point lead with 15-seconds to play in the game when freshman guard Kiley Bartels (Southgate, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made a lay-up to make the score 95-39.  Bethany made a three-pointer with three-seconds to play in the game for the final score of 95-42.

The Saints shot 52.5 percent from the field in the game as they connected on 32-of-61 shots and forced 35 turnovers on the defensive end of the floor.  Thomas More out-scored Bethany 48-20 in the paint and had a 49-2 margin on points off turnovers.

Reaching double-figures scoring for the Saints was Long with a game-high 23 points, sophomore forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) with 15 points, Krusling with 14 points and junior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 14 points.  Junior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team on the boards with five rebounds, while freshman guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in steals with six.  Huber, Beasley and senior guard Jill Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) led the team in assists with four each.

Thomas More remains on the road on Saturday (January 19) when it travels to Grove City, Pennsylvania to play Grove City College at 1 p.m. inside Grove City College Arena.
