Rochester Posts A Big Conference Win Over Chicago

With three post players combining for 34 points and 17 rebounds, the University of Rochester defeated the University of Chicago, 71-49, at the Louis Alexander Palestra on Friday night.
 
The Yellowjackets (9-4 overall, 1-1 University Athletic Association) snapped a two-game homecourt losing streak. Chicago is 3-9 overall, 0-2 UAA.
 
Amy Woods had 14 points, six rebounds, two assists, and four steals for Rochester. Emily Trapani had 10 points and six rebounds. Loren Wagner scored 10 points and collected five rebounds. Between them, they shot 15 of 20 from the floor with Woods leading the way at 7-for-7.
 
Ellie Greiner scored 10 points for Chicago. Jenna Lillemoe scored nine points and Claire Devaney had six. Four other players scored five apiece. Chicago shot 32.1% from the floor, but a chilly 23.1% (six of 26) in the first half. Rochester made 13 steals on 19 Chicago turnovers and scored 25 points off the turnovers.
 
The Yellowjackets grabbed 19 offensive rebounds and turned those into 18 second chance points.
 
In the first half, a jumper by Chicago's Paige Womack kept the Maroons within five, 12-7, with 14:22 left. Rochester went on a 13-2 surge with Wagner and Woods scoring four points each. It built the lead to 16, 25-9, with 9:17 left in the period.
 
On Sunday, Rochester will play third-ranked Washington (MO). The Bears are 2-0 in the UAA after defeating Emory in overtime on Friday night.
