BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team overcame a tough shooting night from the floor by excelling at the free throw line and dominating the glass en route to a (63-50) road win over crosstown rival D'Youville College this evening in AMCC action.

The first half was a tight affair as the Lady Mavs led (32-30) at the break.  However, the Lady Mavs were able to slowly pull away in the second half as they led by as many as (16) points in the win.  The free-throw line was one of the big stories in the game as Medaille made (19) trips to the charity stripe, compared to just (4) for the Spartans.  The Lady Mavs knocked down (16 of 19) in their trips to the line while D'Youville finished (2 for 4) from the stripe.  That (14) point differential was a key factor in the Medaille win.

The battle of the paint was won by D'Youville (28-18), however, Medaille was able to force the Spartans into (15) turnovers which they were able to turn into (18) points on the other end of the floor.  The Lady Mavs effort on the glass was a huge factor as well, they outrebounded D'Youville (48-36) which included a huge discrepancy off the offensive glass.  The Lady Mavs were dominant off of their own missed shots as they pulled down (25) offensive rebounds and score (18) second chance points.  D'Youville grabbed just nine offensive boards in the game.  The Medaille bench outscored their counterparts (15-2) in the game as well.

Freshman Brittnee Perry continued to show her development as she was a beast on the glass, pulling down a career and game high (18) boards, (11) of which came off the offensive glass.  She also chipped in with (9) points, (3) assists, and (2) steals in a tremendous overall performance.

A pair of Lady Mavs matched a game high with (16) points as both Emily Brophy and Joelle Pollak hit that mark.  Brophy was (4 for 8) from beyond the arc to go along with a pair of assists, a blocked shot and a steal.  Pollak also knocked down four three-pointers while also gathering in four rebounds.  She moved into second place on the program's all-time three point field goals made list with (148).  Senior guard Brittney Rowland matched a game high with (4) assists as the Lady Mavs won their third straight game.

The win pushes Medaille's record to (8-5) overall and they hang on to second place in the AMCC standings at (6-1).  They will host Franciscan University on Saturday (1/12) at 1:00pm in another conference matchup, ending a month long break from home action.
