Senior Brooke Wehle (Denison, Iowa/Denison-Schleswig) and junior Susan Kies (Fonda, Iowa/Newell-Fonda) each finished with 21 points and combined for nine-three point buckets, to help lead the Buena Vista women's basketball team to its sixth straight win on Saturday night with an 87-61 non-conference victory at Cal Tech (1-6).

Wehle's 21 points were a season-high and one off of matching her career-high set as a sophomore.  She finished the contest, connecting on 3-of-6 from downtown and 8-of-13 overall.  Kies, who scored at least 20 points for the third straight game, went 6-of-11 from beyond the arc and 7-of-13 overall.  She now has 105 career three-point buckets in her career, moving her into sixth-place on the program's all-time list; just five shy of moving into a tie with Kelli Taylor for fifth.

Freshman Lexi Fisher (Glenwood, Iowa/Glenwood) was also in double figures for BVU, scoring 11 points, while also grabbing five rebounds and recoding three steals.  Senior Tara Lehner (Le Mars, Iowa/Le Mars) followed with eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Sophomore Becca Pennington (Mt. Ayr, Iowa/Mt. Ayr) and Lacey Vokt (Audubon, Iowa.Audubon) grabbed five rebounds each for the Beavers, who out-rebounded Cal Tech, 60-38.

Overall, BVU shot 40.7 percent from the field, including 11-of-32 (34.4 percent) from downtown.

Cal Tech led 15-14 with 13:33 left in the first half before Kies and sophomore Melissa Greve (Arcadia, Iowa/Ar-We-Va) both made a pair of long-range buckets during a 16-3 run that gave BVU a 30-18 lead.  Cal Tech got back within five with 2:31 left in the half, but back-to-back jumpers from Fisher and one more from Pennington pushed the margin back to 11, as the Beavers took a 43-33 lead into the break.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Wehle to begin the second half quickly pushed the lead to 16.  A three-pointer midway through the second half pulled Cal Tech back within 11 at 60-49, but a pair of jumpers from freshman Jasmyn Flynn (Council Bluffs, Iowa/Abraham Lincoln), followed by a three-pointer from Kies, built the lead to 20, and Cal Tech got no closer than 15 the rest of the way.

The six straight wins for the Beavers matches its longest streak since also winning six straight back in 2009-10.  A win tomorrow at Cal Lutheran (7-2) would be the longest streak for the team since chalking up 23 straight victories back in the 2004-05 season.
