Rough First Half Leads to Loss for York Women's Basketball in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The York College women's basketball team couldn't bounce back from a poor first half performance, going down,57-25 against Brooklyn College.

The Cardinals did score the first four points of the ball game, but never held the lead after that. The team shot 25% from the field in the first half and scored just 13 points. Senior guard Ishonda McFarland did lead all scorers with a game-high 15 points while adding six rebounds. Sophomore center Stayce Kay Muirhead added three steals and a game-high ten rebounds.

The Bulldogs (6-2) responded to York's 4-0 lead with a 42-9 run that put them up by 29 at halftime. Junior guard Vanessa D'Ambrosi led the way with 14 points, four assists, and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Nicole Francomano had a game-high seven steals to go along with six points and four assists.

York College (0-7) travels on the road to Purchase College on Saturday at 12 pm where they look for their first victory of the season.
