Dillon Surpasses 1,000 Points As Wisconsin Lutheran Routs Aurora

MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin Lutheran College senior guard Shavon Dillon (Milwaukee, Wis./Hope School) surpassed 1,000 career points to lead the Warriors to a 72-37 win over Aurora in their Northern Athletics Conference opener Wednesday night at the Recreation Complex.

Dillon reached the 1,000-point plateau with 15:43 remaining in the game when she hit a running jumper in the paint. She became the 15th Warriors women's basketball player to reach the milestone. Dillon entered the contest just 14 points shy of 1,000 and currently sits at 1,003 career points.

Wisconsin Lutheran was in control for the entire game as it came out on fire, opening the game on a 10-0 run and led by double-digits for a majority of the contest. WLC held a 36-13 halftime lead and clamped down on the Spartans, holding them to just 11.1 percent (4-for-36) shooting in the opening half. The Warriors connected on 48.1 percent (13-for-27) of their first-half shots.

Dillon scored 10 first-half points to lead WLC, while sophomore Kristen Schulz (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran) chipped in four points and pulled down a first-half best six rebounds. Shay Jenkins netted six first-half points for the visiting Spartans.

The second half was all Wisconsin Lutheran as it scored first and led by at least 25 points for the rest of the contest. WLC built the lead to a game-high 37 points four different times before finishing with the 72-37 victory.

Dillon poured in 17 points to lead all scorers while also dishing out a team-best three assists. Junior Melanie Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) added 10 points and six rebounds, while Schulz pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. Senior Alyssa Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) also handed out three assists for WLC, which shot 45.6 percent (26-for-57) from the floor for the game.

Aurora (2-3, 1-1 NAC) was led by Jenkins as she finished with a team-high 10 points. Joree Green added seven for the Spartans, who finished the game shooting 17.9 percent (12-for-67) from the field.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-1, 1-0 NAC) returns to the court Saturday when it travels across town to face MSOE (0-3, 0-1 NAC) in a conference matchup.
