Fisher, Williams, Post Double-Doubles but Beavers Fall in Season Opener

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD – Two double-doubles by junior forward Syreeta Williams and freshman Bria Fisher were not enough as the City College of New York women's basketball team (0-1) fell to the Cougars of Misericordia (1-0), 87-43, in day one of the St. Mary's Maryland Tip-Off Classic in the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics and Recreation Center Arena on Friday evening.

Fisher's collegiate debut was one for the record books as the forward posted 10 points and 17 rebounds in 36 minutes of action while Williams registered 14 points and 10 rebounds as the duo combined to score 24 points and pull down 27 rebounds.

Williams' came out strong in the first half with eight points and seven rebounds but the Beavers went into halftime trailing 42-15.

CCNY will not get much rest as the Beavers are set to face host school St. Mary's College at 1 PM tomorrow. Live stats will be provided by clicking here.
