Brito steps up for Pointers in win over Marian

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Jessica Brito (Danville, IL/Bismarck-Henning) scored 13 points off the bench for the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team as it defeated Marian University 68-19 Tuesday evening.

UWSP went on a 25-0 run in the first half taking a 36-11 lead into halftime.

Brito, a sophomore transfer from UW-Parkside, was 2-for-2 from behind the arc and shot 5-for-6 from the floor.

Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest/Winona St.) led all scorers with 14 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the floor and pulling down a team-high six rebounds.

The Pointers defense held the Sabres to under 20 percent shooting from the floor and forced 29 turnovers.

Ashley Backes led the way for the Sabres with six points and Rissa Cerveny pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

UWSP returns to action Sunday, Nov. 25 as it travels to St. Paul, Minn. to take on No. 3 St. Thomas. Action set for 2 p.m.
